    How much do you know about EPON OLT optical modules?

    EPON is a PON technology based on Ethernet. It uses PON technology at the physical layer, Ethernet protocol at the data link layer, Ethernet access using the PON topology, and full-service access to data, voice, and video using optical fiber.

    EPON product description:

    EPON transmits and receives signals on a single fiber. This mechanism is called a single-fiber bidirectional transmission mechanism. Using WDM wavelength division multiplexing technology, single-fiber bidirectional transmission is achieved with different wavelengths (downstream 1490nm, upstream 1310nm), and the upstream and downstream data streams are simultaneously transmitted on one fiber without affecting each other.

    At the same time, 1000 BASE-PX-10 U is defined / D and 1000 BASE-PX-20 U / D PON optical interfaces support the maximum distance transmission of 10 km and 20 km respectively.EPON can provide 1.25 Gbit / s upstream and downstream bandwidth. It is a passive optical network based on Ethernet. The OLT adopts Ethernet encapsulation and transmits an Ethernet frame structure. Therefore, EPON is based on an 802.3 frame format.

    According to the agreement of IEEE802.3ah-2004: the transmit power of the OLT side is greater than 2dBm, and the receiving sensitivity is <-27dBm; for the ONU transmitting power is greater than -1dBm, the receiving sensitivity is <-24dBm, the loss of the entire optical link is up to <24dB, down to <23.5dB . The loss of EPON upstream 1310nm and downstream 1490nm wavelengths in G.652 fiber is about 0.3dB / km. In summary, the power budget is the most important factor for long-distance EPON.

PON replaces the original Layer 2 / Layer 3 switch in the analog networking solution, while also saving a lot of fiber transceivers, and does not require video optical transceiver equipment.

    ④In the case of shortage of optical fiber resources, such as the village village project, the optical splitter scheme with multi-level splitting and unequal splitting power can be used, that is, the power is unequal when there is only one or several cores The optical splitters converge point by point.
