Two Ethernet standards

IEEE 802.3: The first IEE Ethernet standard developed by the 802.3 Working Group of IEEE 802 Committee has made minor changes in the frame format.
Because of the commercial competition among manufacturers, IEEE 802 committee was forced to formulate several different LAN standards: 802.4 token bus network, 802.5 token ring network, etc.
In order to better adapt the data link layer to various LAN standards, IEEE 802 committee divided the data link layer into logical link layer LLC sublayer and media access control MAC sublayer.
LLC and MAC are connected to the network and physical layers, respectively, so they have different functions.
The LAN reference model described in IEEE 802 standard only corresponds to the OSI reference model’s data link layer and physical layer.
